SOS – Save Our Sport

It is of great concern that UK Sport announced on 09/12/16 that they are removing the entire funding granted to Badminton England. This will eventually affect everyone who plays badminton and WE need YOU to do something NOW to Save Our Sport.

A petition has been started by BE in the last few days, calling for reinstatement of funding.

The link to this petition is given below.

 https://www.badmintonengland.co.uk/landingpage.asp?section=6620&sectionTitle=Support+our+appeal+to+have+GB+Badminton+funding+re-instated

After you have signed the petition, please forward this email to all your friends and family and ask them to sign it also.

We need 100,000 signatures if possible.

Speak to as many people as possible about the problem. How can Badminton England lose such funding when they just achieved the best badminton results ever at the Rio Olympic Games, exceeding the targets set by UK Sport? Ask them to sign the petition for reinstatement of funding.

Write to your local MP. Straight after signing the petition you will have access to the link to contact your local MP. Seek their support.

You may wish to read the letter I received from the CEO at Badminton England; Mr Adrian Christy.

 Regards

 Ian Rizzotto

 p.s. Please note.

Down the BE page from ‘SIGN THE PETITION’, you are asked to ‘Send a statement of support by email to the Prime Minister’.

This will take you to a page with an email link and a letter to cut and paste.

Be aware at the time of writing this email, I believe that link is incorrect. It is solely for her constituents in Maidenhead.

The correct link for Number 10, to paste into your browser, is:

https://email.number10.gov.uk/

However, you still cannot cut and paste as requested, because it opens a pre-formatted page and the space provided for your message allows only 1000 characters.

Adrian Christie’s letter is about 5,500 characters.

But, there is nothing to stop you composing and sending your own message.
